Carpenter

Job Description:

The carpenter will be responsible for constructing, installing, and repairing structures and frameworks using various materials such as wood, metal, and concrete. This role requires a strong understanding of carpentry techniques, tools, and safety protocols, as well as the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced construction environment.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 Carpentry & Construction

  • Read and interpret construction plans, technical drawings, and project plans to determine job requirements.
  • Measure, cut, shape, assemble, and install wood, metal, and other building materials.
  • Construct and install frameworks, structures, doors, windows, walls, floors, ceilings, and staircases.
  • Install drywall, trim, cabinetry, and other finishing elements as required.
  • Perform concrete formwork, framing, and other structural carpentry work.

Safety & Compliance

  • Follow all company safety procedures and ensure compliance with OSHA and other safety regulations.
  • Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and maintain a clean and organized worksite.
  • Identify and mitigate potential job site hazards.

Tools & Equipment Management

  • Operate and maintain hand tools, power tools, and construction equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Ensure proper storage, care, and maintenance of carpentry tools and materials.
  • Report damaged or malfunctioning tools and equipment to the supervisor.

  Collaboration & Communication

  • Work closely with site supervisors, project managers, and other tradespeople to complete projects on time and within budget.
  • Communicate effectively with team members to coordinate workflow and resolve issues.
  • Provide guidance and assistance to apprentices and less experienced carpenters as needed.

Quality Control & Problem-Solving

  • Inspect work for accuracy, durability, and compliance with building codes and project specifications.
  • Identify and resolve carpentry-related construction issues in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Maintain high standards of craftsmanship and attention to detail.

Other Related Duties

  • The employee may be required to perform other related duties as necessary to meet the ongoing needs of Collier Construction. These responsibilities may be assigned by management to support company growth, operational needs, or strategic initiatives. Employees are expected to demonstrate flexibility and a willingness to contribute beyond the listed duties to further the success of the company.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience as a carpenter in residential, commercial, or industrial construction.
  • Strong knowledge of carpentry techniques, materials, and building codes.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and schematics.
  • Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, and carpentry equipment.
  • Experience with framing, formwork, finishing, and other carpentry specialties.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to job sites.
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification preferred.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift 50+ pounds and perform physical tasks such as bending, kneeling, and standing for extended periods.
  • Comfortable working at heights, on ladders, scaffolding, or in confined spaces.
  • Ability to work in various weather conditions and outdoor environments.
